What are some good guitar pedals of improving tone?

I am on a quest for my dream tone like very guitarist is. And i am looking into some pedals to add to my current setup in hopes of getting closer to my dream tone. But i have no idea where to start or what pedals are good or bad. My friend lent me a RAT Distortion pedal which i found excellent. But I am looking for a very post-hardcore rock/rock/metal sound for my electric guitar and i have no idea what to look into. I've heard that the RAT family has good pedals, and i've also heard good things about Tube Screamers, but i really have no idea what will help me and what wont. I have a crate GFX-212 solid state amp, with a Schecter Diamond Series hellraiser guitar with active emgs. And i also have a cry baby 535q wah pedal. My main goal is to get an overall warmer full spectrum tone with an overall heaviness to it for rhythm chugging, but clarity and definition for some lead riffs than i have currently. So I'm looking for any pedals that will aid me in getting at least a little closer to that desired tone. And I know I don't have the best setup, so I don't need the side comments on my shitty equipment, I know, I'm a teenager with a minimum wage job and budget, but a love for music so thats the best I could do haha.
