Friends problem, please help..short and sweet?

so my good buddy of 6 years and I have had "grudge fests" over periods of the past year and a half, where the mad one would delete the other off of skype and basically not talk to him until someone decides to stop being childish. He mainly gets mad at me, but for dumb things in my opinion. One example is when i covered a doorway with tape and his mom tried to come in the door. I later tried to be nice on Skype but he held a grudge and we argued it. Now he's mad because he didn't get the xbox back that he gave me and for the other past grudges. He says he's done with me. My question is, is he being childish? Am I a bad friend? And how do you think I should, If I should, approach him to tell him I'm sorry? I tried apologizing before and he had to seriously consider that!
